Nairobi X
"Hear Her Voice" was founded in 2024 by Tyrah Kingcade, also known as Nairobi. The inspiration behind creating "Hear Her Voice" stemmed from my desire to cultivate a community of sisterhood and establish a platform that amplifies the voices of women and women advocates. I envisioned a space where we could openly discuss and address injustices—a place that feels like home for me and other women.
I wanted to leverage my voice to shine a light on the various issues that women confront, especially in advocating for prison reform and against mass incarceration, with a specific focus on preventing youth incarceration.
Prior to "Hear Her Voice," I founded LEG (Liberating Expressions to Grow), which is a writing workshop designed for individuals who are incarcerated and dealing with substance abuse. I am also the founder of the 2 Gain & Give Newsletters, and a co-founder of the 40 Strong Prison Reform Advocacy. As a writer, advocate, substance abuse counselor, and humanitarian, I am deeply passionate about my community and committed to promoting positive change.
"Hear Her Voice" is not just a blog or a website; it is a movement dedicated to empowering women and amplifying their voices in the fight for justice."
"Hear Her Voice" serves as an avenue for people to have their voices heard. It is a space where individuals can genuinely be themselves and freely express their thoughts and feelings. Since launching the "Hear Her Voice" blog in 2024, I have expanded our vision to include the "Hear Her Voice" self-help resource and crisis intervention community. Where we offer services such as job readiness preparation, addiction support, youth engagement, mental health services, and re-entry assistance. Our community is beautifully diverse, staffed by individuals from various backgrounds and areas of expertise, including peer support specialists, mentors, advocates, therapists, coaches, and compassionate listeners.
Our goal is to support and uplift each other. We are a community that prioritizes helping not only our members but also our staff. We believe in mutual growth and cross-promotion, working together to inspire, encourage, challenge, and empower one another. Through our collective voices and platforms, we are dedicated to making a significant impact in the lives of those we serve.
Become a part of our trauma-informed community, where we not only amplify voices but also provide essential resources, self-help tools, and crisis intervention. Together, we stand united in the fight for justice and equality, dedicated to the overall betterment and healing of all individuals.
Our community is built on the principles of unity, support, and empowerment, fostering an environment where everyone can thrive. Join us in making a difference as we work towards healing and justice for all.
Our mission is to find solutions that will bring justice to an unjust system, prevent youth incarceration, decrease recidivism, promote self-help and address any important issues related to womanhood.
Our vision is to build a community of sisterhood where we inspire, uplift, encourage, challenge and empower one another. To use our voices and platform to create change and bring unity and healing to our communities and advocate for those that are incarcerated so their voices can be heard.
